Do you have a small person that demands books and snacks and constant entertainment? I do. We’re usually safe as long as the books and the bunny grahams hold out. I’m sure we all have books in our collections that when brought to us, causes us to cringe and think “Oh gawd, not THAT one again!” You try to bargain but the tiny overlord is insistent! Nothing but this book will make him happy. What do you do? You take a trip to the library or bookstore and try to find something that you can tolerate to read 284364947 times in a row. I’m going to help you with that. These are toddler-approved options that you’ll actually enjoy.
This week we’re going to talk about a book that I loved as a kid and when I found a copy at a garage sale I squealed with delight and called my mom to tell her. She was less thrilled than I was but hey, different strokes. I totally don’t get her lack of enthusiasm for dinosaurs.
There Are Tyrannosaurs Trying On Pants In My Bedroom – Jim Heartney
Yay, it’s Saturday!!! Oh no! Mom and Dad want me to do chores! I can’t possibly clean my room-there are tyrannosaurs trying on pants in my bedroom. I can’t rake the yard, there are brachiosaurs playing badmitten in the yard! and so on. My son is old enough that he’s starting to figure out when things are funny without waiting to see if someone else does. (The kid loves shtick. Fall and hurt yourself? HAHAHAHAHA. But he’s starting to get non-visual humor, and that’s a lot of fun for me to find silly books that make him laugh his ridiculous laugh.)
The only bad part about this book is that it’s out of print. Definitely get this one at the library.
Other awesome dinosaur books
